This Month in JAAD International - April 2024

This month in JAAD International, Egeberg et  al1 discuss the high rate of adverse events from chronic topical steroid use for chronic hand eczema. Of the nearly 1300 patients with hand eczema in the Danish Skin Cohort, 724 provided information about adverse events associated with topical steroid use. The results of this study were striking, with 64.1% reporting skin atrophy, suggesting a significant burden for topical steroid use. The authors also reported a range of other adverse events,” including pain or stinging and reduced hand dexterity, some of which may be related to underlying diseases.
