Editorial Comment

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the literature highlighting the lack of diversity within the urology workforce. The authors have notably set a tangible target for the number of underrepresented in medicine (URiM) trainees, aiming to align the workforce with population demographics. Since 2020, numerous initiatives aimed at increasing diversity have been launched, focusing primarily on enhanced exposure, research opportunities, and mentorship for URiM trainees. However, a critical aspect often overlooked in discussions about diversity, equity, and inclusion is the pivotal role of residency training programs.
