Insights on Adrenal Hemorrhage

Adrenal hemorrhage refers to bleeding within the capsule of 1 or both adrenal glands. It is perceived as an uncommon clinical entity that is generally poorly understood. It can be encountered in the setting of abdominal trauma or be atraumatic in the presence of predisposing conditions.1 Adrenal hemorrhage is likely to be underrecognized as no clinical features or blood tests can immediately alert to the diagnosis. It is unknown when clinicians should consider adrenal hemorrhage as a relevant contributing factor to illness because of a limited understanding of the full spectrum of adrenal hemorrhage and its predisposing conditions.
