Diagnostic yield of endoscopic and EUS-guided biopsy techniques in subepithelial lesions of the upper gastro-intestinal tract: a systematic review
Obtaining adequate tissue samples in subepithelial lesions (SELs) remains challenging. Several biopsy techniques are available, but a systematic review including all available techniques to obtain a histological diagnosis of SEL is lacking. The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic yield and complication rates of endoscopic biopsies, endoscopic ultrasound guided-FNA and –FNB (EUS-FNA/B), and mucosal incision assisted biopsy (MIAB) for SELs in the upper gastro-intestinal tract.
