Association between hba1c levels and adverse pregnancy outcomes

Despite optimization of metabolic balance during pregnancy in GDM (Gestational Diabetes Mellitus), maternal and fetal complications remain higher than in the background population. Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) is a strong indicator of the median glucose blood levels for the three months before the analysis. During pregnancy, the ideal HbA1c level should be lower than the recommended values. HbA1c levels are a strong predictor of maternal and fetal complications.
