67. Examining the Impact of Electronic Health Records on Adolescent Healthcare Communication and Self-Efficacy
Whether patient portals should serve predominantly as data-centric repositories or patient-centric portals in clinical care remains undecided. The implementation of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) and Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) acts have accelerated the adoption of EHRs and given patients more autonomy over their medical records. With an increase in medical record transparency with patients, there has been increased attention to the usability and patient-serving capabilities of patient portals.
