Does prior treatment not affect the clinical success of peroral endoscopic myotomy and lead to reduced procedure time?

We read with great interest the article by Kadiyala et  al,1 who conducted a study to compare clinical success and procedural times between treatment-naïve and treatment-refractory patients with achalasia and other esophageal motility disorders during peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM). Finally, they concluded that prior treatment, including Botox inje ctions, pneumatic dilation (PD), and laparoscopic Heller myotomy (LHM), did not negatively affect clinical success or lead to reduced procedure time.
