The State of the Art of EGFR exon 20 insertions in non-small cell lung cancer: diagnosis and future perspectives

Lung cancer (LC) is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, and, although smoking is the most frequent cause of LC, 10-15% of all LCs are diagnosed in never-smokers.[1] Treatment of actionable mutations in about 60% of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) marked the era of precision medicine with the use of a whole generation of targeted therapies that have dramatically improved patient prognosis.[2]
