Primary Inferior Vena Cava Leiomyosarcoma: A Rare Cause of Retroperitoneal Mass

Primary leiomyosarcoma of the inferior vena cava (IVC) is a rare, often aggressive, malignant tumor within the retroperitoneum. Due to low incidence, nonspecific clinical features, and variable imaging findings, delays in diagnosis and treatment are common. Limited evidence is available regarding optimal management, although surgical resection is the recommended primary treatment modality. Small studies have attempted to compare outcomes with IVC reconstruction versus no reconstruction, but definitive guidelines have yet to be established due to the lack of sufficient data.
