23. 3D printed decompression stent for the treatment of extensive odontogenic cysts

The use of decompression stents to treat extensive odontogenic cysts is well documented. Previously nasopharygeal tubes have been used, but disadvantages included mucosal ulcerations, occlusal interferences and frequent dislodgement. To prevent this, stents have been redesigned and made using different soft denture reline materials. We propose the use of 3D printing technology to produce these stents, allowing for cost effective manufacturing of customised decompression stents.
