Results of the IAEA supported national end-to-end audit of the IMRT technique in Poland

In the last decades intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) techniques have become widely used for radiotherapy patients in Poland. These high conformity techniques create optimal dose coverage while protecting organs at risk (OARs), even for very irregular target shapes. Such an advanced technique requires an adequate level of dosimetry verification. There is a wide range of quality assurance (QA) verification methods being used for pretreatment [1]. The sensitivity for the detecting of errors varies for every method, and only an independent dosimetry audit allows for the accurate assessment of locally implemented procedures.
