Promoting Gender-Based Health Equity Through Graduate Nursing Education
Gender plays a pivotal role in patients ’ health due to its influence on health behaviors, health care engagement, and the quality of care received. To truly achieve health equity for all, providers must be aware of gender-based discrimination within health care and be equipped with skills to combat sources of gender-based health dispar ities. The following report discusses the development and implementation of a graduate-level elective course for the purpose of increasing the ability of future nurse practitioners to recognize and mitigate gender-based health disparities.
