Exploring the Impact of Preoperative Insulin Resistance Levels on Outcomes after Metabolic Surgery: A Focus on Multiracial T2DM Patients
We are pleased that our study can be of interest to academics and bariatric metabolic surgeons. We aim to explore the potential impact of preoperative insulin resistance levels on outcomes after bariatric surgery and expect to highlight its importance in the preoperative assessment of bariatric surgery, especially in Asian T2DM patients. Our results confirmed that IR levels predicted diabetes remission and weight loss 1 year after BS in Chinese T2DM patients with a BMI ≥25 kg/m2. Bariatric surgery can treat T2DM while reducing weight, and these benefits may be achieved in part by improving insulin resistance[1, 2].
