Baseline Characteristic of participants in the National COPD Screening Program in China

The National COPD Screening Program in China is a multi-stage sequential screening program, incorporates a previously validated questionnaire (i.e. COPD Screening Questionnaire), pre- and post-bronchodilator spirometry to target the COPD high-risk population. During the first year, 949,172 participants were screened and 18.12% (171,965) of them were high risk for COPD, of whom 49.63% (85,352) accepted onsite pre- and post-bronchodilator spirometry. Then 83.45% (71,229) were categorized as High Risk Group I, 3.89% (3316) were categorized as High Risk Group II and 12.67% (10,807) were categorized as spirometry defined COPD. The symptom burden and risk factor are different between them. Further interventions and fellow-up are still ongoing. Trial registration: NCT05480176.Table 1 Baseline Characteristic of the screened population.Table 2 Baseline Characteristic of the high risk population.
