Addressing Cannabis Use During Adolescence

Cannabis is among the most common substances used by adolescents. While other substance use, including alcohol and cigarette use, has declined over the past two decades, the prevalence of cannabis use has remained steady among adolescents and increased among young adults. Furthermore, over the past decade, there has been a dramatic rise in the prevalence of vaping, including nicotine and cannabis. While the prevalence of cannabis use appears to have remained steady among adolescents, Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) potency has risen sharply, with compensatory changes in the THC/cannabidiol ratio.
