A systematic review to identify the most frequently used tests to assess physical and physiological characteristics in adolescent, male rugby league players

Introduction: Monitoring physical and physiological characteristics of adolescent rugby league players is imperative to ensure long-term player development. Key physical characteristics identified in rugby league are height, body mass, and body composition, while key physiological characteristics are muscular power, muscular strength, linear speed, change-of-direction speed, and aerobic capacity. However, an array of tests are adopted in the literature to assess these characteristics, making it difficult for rugby league practitioners to select appropriate tests for implementation.
