Every minute counts
The PROPPR (Pragmatic, Randomized Optimal Platelets and Plasma Ratios) study evaluated the impact of different plasma: platelet: red blood cell ratios at 12 North American academic trauma centers.1 The study prospectively captured times to activation of massive transfusion protocols (MTP) as well as their time to delivery to the patient's bedside. The median time from patient arrival to MTP activation was 9 minutes, with a median time from MTP activation to delivery of the first cooler of 8 minutes.
