An optimized DIxon VIBE MR sequence has previously shown the potential to simultaneously visualize human skin and surface brachytherapy applicators on healthy volunteers. This sequence acquires in-phase (IP) and opposed-phase (OP) images from which water and fat images are automatically reconstructed. OP images provide the highest image contrast for detecting silicon beads of Freiburg Flap applicators and deducing the positions of enclosed catheters. Applicator beads may present chemical shift induced spatial distortions on the original IP and OP acquisitions, which can be mitigated by building their geometric mean.
