Influence of type of household on prognosis at one year in patients ≥65 years attending hospital emergency departments in Spain. The EDEN-6 study

The aging of the population is a worldwide phenomenon. The percentage of the population  ≥ 65 years has increased and will rise in the next few years [1]. In Europe, this population is expected to increase from 90.5 million in 2019 to 129.8 million by 2050 [2]. Elderly patients have a greater number of comorbidities and functional and cognitive limitations. As a result, they ar e not only more likely to become ill but also have atypical complaints and specific syndromes associated with frailty [3].
