Surgical resection of a retinal pigment epithelium adenoma with exudative retinal detachment

A 46-year-old woman was referred to Hiroshima University Hospital with a left intraocular tumor. On examination, her best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 20/15 in the right eye and 20/50 in the left. In the superotemporal quadrant, there was a deeply pigmented mass (4.0 mm (horizontal) × 4.5 mm (vertical) × 3.0 mm (height)) with dilated retinal feeder vessels, surrounded by lipid exudation. The mass was associated with vitreomacular traction with subretinal fluid and tractional retinal detachment inferiorly.
