Dermatology's Impact on Military Recruitment and Careers

Increasing numbers of active-duty service members (ADSM) have been referred to community dermatologists following the passing of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2017.1 Understanding the impact our care will have on service ADSM has become increasingly important. Many of the diagnoses we render and therapeutics we prescribe could potentially result in candidates interested in serving their country as ADSM becoming ineligible to enlist or being considered undeployable, resulting in forced separation from the particular military service.
