We read with great interest the article titled “Investigation of the effect of weight loss after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy on Cobb angle, low back, and back pain: a prospective study.” Ergin et al. assessed the correlation between weight loss and improvements in parameters of musculoskeletal spinal conditions in 89 patients undergoing sleeve gastrectomy (SG).1 Specific measurements included patient-reported outcomes (Visual Analogue Scale, Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire, Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire, and SF-36 Quality of Life Questionnaire) and the Cobb angle, a radiographic measurement of spinal deform ity and degenerative scoliosis.
