17. Use of the orbital-L5 pedicle plumb line as a simple method of assessing coronal alignment and outcomes

The coronal alignment of the skull is understudied in adult spinal deformity (ASD) patients. Previous literature showed that the orbital-coronal vertical axis (ORB-CVA) is associated with radiographic parameters such as CVA, maximum coronal cobb angle (Max Cobb), patient-reported outcomes (PROs), and outcomes such as major complications. The position of the plumb line from the midpoint between medial orbital rims relative to the L5 pedicles (ORB-L5), a simpler coronal parameter, may be associated with radiographic parameters, surgical variables, PROs, and clinical outcomes.
