Prevention is a powerful tool for building health resilience! Prior to the discovery of efficacious medications, medical devices, and procedures, primary prevention of disease defined medical care in North America and beyond. Advances in modern medicine and preventive services delivery have greatly expanded medical care and, more importantly, life expectancy over time. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education –accredited specialty of preventive medicine was established in 1946, training physicians across the prevention spectrum (primary to tertiary prevention) to practice at the intersection of clinical medicine and public health and improve health for their patients and populations.
