A subpontine osteolytic lesion of the mandible

A 47-year old white female presented to a private oral and maxillofacial surgery practice with a mass in the subpontine edentulous area of previously extracted tooth #19 (left mandibular first molar). A fixed partial denture was present clinically, with abutments on the mandibular left second molar (#18) and the left mandibular second premolar (#20). A hygienic pontic replaced missing tooth #19.
