Nursing Students ’ Acceptance of an Online Computer-based Simulation System Utilizing the Technology Acceptance Model

With advances in technology and the recent pandemic of COVID-19, online education has proliferated in nursing schools (Dewart, Corcoran, Thirsk,& Petrovic, 2020; Niki et  al., 2020). Online computer-based simulation education in nursing schools has also increased (Cant& Cooper, 2014, 2015; Harder, 2010). However, acceptance of these technological systems used in nursing education is still scarce and not fully understood. Meanwhile, the nursing profession is at a crossroads due to the shortages in number of faculty, decreased clinical sites for learning, an increase influx of students ’ applying to programs and the need to teach safe and effective patient care (Alt-Gehrman, 2019; Kaddoura, Vandyke, Smallwood,& Gonzalez, 2016; Robinson,& Dearmon, 2013: Ahn,& Kim, 2015).
