Use of over-the-scope clips in patients with bleeding duodenal ulcers: Is it ready for global adoption?
Hollenbach et al1 report a novel over-the-scope-clip device (OTSC): traumatic (-t) or atraumatic (-a) in patients with bleeding duodenal ulcer. Overall, bleeding hemostasis was achieved in 90.9% of the entire cohort of 176 patients, with no significant differences between the OTSC-a and OTSC-t groups. Some pati ents still required endoclips closure and epinephrine injection in addition to the OTSC to achieve hemostasis, and rebleeding occurred in overall>40% of patients after successful closure with OTSC.
