Obstructing Urolithiasis Leading to Renal Forniceal Rupture

Urolithiasis is a common presenting condition to emergency departments across the world, estimated to account for 9% of all visits (1). The incidence has been increasing over time, with over one million visits per year in the United States alone (2). Similarly, incidence of complications, such as infection and obstruction, related to urolithiasis has been increasing (3). Emergency physicians must be aware of both common and rare potential complications that can arise from this frequent presenting pathology.
