Evaluation of hop performance in children with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using healthy reference data: A cross-sectional study

Hop testing are frequently used to evaluate functional performance after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction in adults [1] and in children [2]. The most commonly reported single-leg hop tests are: Single-leg hop, 6-m timed hop, triple hop, and cross-over hop performed on both the operated and non-operated leg [1 –3]. In clinical practice, these hop tests are used to reveal functional limitations [4] and the limb symmetry index (LSI) is often calculated to assess this [5]. Return to sport recommendations for children with ACL reconstruction states that the hop performance LSI should be > 90 % [6] indicating a functional deficit if the LSI is below that level.
