Gender incongruence and ageing
As ageing progresses distinct gender differences slowly fade away regarding hair growth pattern, skin texture, voice, muscle strength and many other features that may lead to increased stress in elderly transgender and genderdiverse people. Many have gone to great efforts to align his/her/their outer appearance as much as possible to their gender identity and are deeply concerned that their gender(role) will not be recognized with ageing. This is one reason that elderly transpeople are generally reserved to diminish the dosage of hormones or stop hormonal treatment.
