Structural analysis on postnatal cartilage development of the patellar femoral joint in mice

Purpose: Knee Osteoarthritis (OA) is an irreversible orthopaedic disease that causes many limitations in our daily activities. Knee OA developed in the femorotibial joint and the patellofemoral (PF) joint. Many researchers have been focusing on the degeneration mechanism of femorotibial joint cartilage. However, the PF joint is an essential source of symptoms in knee OA. In the knee OA cohorts, the prevalence of radiographic PF joint OA is 57% (Hart H+, Br J Spot Med. 2017). Patellar dislocation is one of the factors leading to OA in PF joints (Liebensteiner M+, J Orthop Surg Res.
