Comments on ‘Instruments to assess appropriateness of hip and knee arthroplasty: a systematic review’
The paper by Pacheco-Brousseau et al. describes a systematic review of psychometric properties of appropriateness criteria for knee and hip arthroplasty — a topic of interest to us1–3. Appropriateness criteria continue to be highly relevant, especially given the substantial variation in arthroplasty utilization worldwide — a likely indicator of both over- and underuse5,6.
