Overview on the management of adult urinary incontinence

Urinary incontinence is a major health issue that affects more than 300 million people worldwide. Prevalence estimates vary depending on the group investigated and how incontinence is defined. The condition is significant in terms of the distress it causes patients and the costs it incurs on healthcare systems. It is generally classified as either stress, urge or mixed incontinence. Although there is higher prevalence in women, increasing interventions for the prostate for both benign and malignant conditions, has increased the prevalence in men.
