Experiences of Nursing Students in Observer Roles During Simulation-Based Learning and the Impact on Patient Safety: A Scoping Review
As the average lifespan continues to lengthen with technological advancements in health care, more individuals will require nursing care for complex and chronic illnesses. Thus, higher expectations for nurses exist to care for the vulnerable population, emphasizing patient safety (Lee et al., 2020). Nurses increasingly demand advanced technical skills and robust clinical judgment to practice competently (Hanshaw& Dickerson, 2020). Health care institutions have criticized new graduate nurses for not meeting professional practice requirements when working in complex, specialized care environments (Abelsson& Bisholt, 2017).
