NICE: Babies, children and young peoples experience of healthcare--a young person's viewpoint

The NICE guideline on Babies, Children and Young People’s Experiences of Healthcare is the first of its kind; a document based on evidence but most importantly includes our views, as young people with lived experience of accessing healthcare. Hearing views and experiences of children and young people is vital not just to understand their experience but to also actively shape and improve it for future generations. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states that "Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously".1 This is particularly important within healthcare, so clinicians can provide the best healthcare experience which fundamentally supports children and young people growing up.
