Endocrinology of the Aging Patient

The United Nations projects that by 2050, 1 in 6 people in the world will be over the age of 65 years, up from 1 in 11 in 2019.1 Given these numbers, it is imperative to understand the hormonal changes that occur with aging in order to attain optimal health outcomes for older adults. In this theme issue of Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinics of North America, we focus on endocrinology of the aging patient and explore in-depth the alterations in multiple endocrine axes that occur across the lifespan.
