Screen-Based Simulation as a Novel Recertification Tool for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists

Certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) are advanced practice nurses that administer anesthesia to patients of all ages and across a wide variety of healthcare settings (American Association of Nurse Anesthetists [AANA], 2021). In the United States, there are nearly 60,000 CRNAs among the growing profession. Certification of CRNAs is granted by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) whose mission is to promote safe and high-quality anesthesia care through a credentialing program that fosters lifelong learning (NBCRNA,  2022a).
