Use of the Self- and Family Management Framework in quantitative studies
The increasing incidence of chronic health conditions contributes to higher healthcare expenditures and mortality (Raghupathi& Raghupathi, 2018; Tinker, 2017). Improving self- and family management (SFM) behaviors is one intervention used by health professionals to engage individuals and their families in chronic condition management (Lorig& Holman, 2003). Extensive research supports SFM interventions for patients and their families to participate in chronic health condition management as individuals or as dyads (Boger, Ellis, Latter, et al., 2015; Whitehead, Jacob, Towell, et al., 2018; Schulman-Green, Feder, Montano et al., 2021).
