The Principles and Practice of Beauty

When discussing the concept of “beauty,” it is important to take a critical look at one’s biases, preferences, cultural background, and social position, among other things. We bring to the discussion our own attitudes, formed over decades through our environment, upbringing, and experiences. If our purpose as facial plastic surgeons is to help patients define and achieve a particular goal as to their appearance, we must understand how that goal fits into the larger “definition” of beauty.
