What is counselling?

Counselling is a way of talking and helping people that explores the things that may be worrying them. It can also help people if they aren’t sure what to do by giving them some time to think through their ideas and choices. Being self-aware and having the capacity to think and feel emotions with clarity and understanding is part of being human and means we rely on more more than instinct to live our lives. Because we have this capacity our thinking and emotions can become intertwined in a way that may be unhelpful. The art of counselling is in helping people come to terms with the way in which these perfectly normal human capabilities affect them, with the ultimate aim of overcoming the problems and issues they appear to create, such as depression or feeling low anxiety low self esteem and lack of confidence divorce and separation stress abuse bereavement anger management worries about money or employment. A counsellor will listen to you deeply and fully, support you as you work things through, ask questions to help you understand yourself, and re-frame where you are with the aim of helping you decide what is best for you. If you are ready to be who you were always meant to be, now is the right time to take the next step ..
