Sialolipoma of minor salivary glands: report of a rare case in the tongue
Sialolipoma is a histologic variant of lipoma characterized by proliferation of mature adipocytes with secondary entrapment of normal salivary gland tissue. These tumors occur mainly in the parotid gland and palate of female adults. Herein, we report a rare case of a sialolipoma in a 42-year-old male patient, presenting as a painless yellowish nodular lesion of soft consistency on the border of the tongue. A provisional diagnosis of lipoma was established, and an excisional biopsy was performed.
