Association of Reduced eGFR and Albuminuria with Serious Fall Injuries among Older Adults.
CONCLUSIONS: Elevated ACR but not lower eGFR was associated with serious fall injuries. Evaluation for fall risk factors and fall prevention strategies should be considered for older adults with elevated ACR. PMID: 27091516 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Soluble Urokinase Plasminogen Activator Receptor and Outcomes in Patients with Diabetes on Hemodialysis.
CONCLUSIONS: The association of soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor levels with outcomes persists in patients on hemodialysis. Additional study is warranted to characterize the underlying pathways of that association, which may yield opportunities to develop new therapeutic strategies. Add-On Antihypertensive Medications to Angiotensin-Aldosterone System Blockers in Diabetes: A Comparative Effectiveness Study.
CONCLUSIONS: Compared with thiazide diuretics, calcium channel blockers were associated with a lower risk of significant kidney events and a similar risk of cardiovascular events. Demystifying the Benefits and Harms of Anticoagulation for Atrial Fibrillation in Chronic Kidney Disease.
This article aims to present a contemporary literature review of the benefits versus harms of anticoagulation in atrial fibrillation for patients with CKD stages 3, 4, 5, and 5 on dialysis. Although unanswered questions and areas of clinical equipoise remain, this piece serves to assist physicians in interpreting the complex body of literature and applying it to their clinical care. Trimethylamine N-Oxide and Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients with End-stage Kidney Disease Receiving Maintenance Hemodialysis.
CONCLUSIONS: We found no evidence linking TMAO to adverse clinical outcomes in patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis with moderate to severe secondary hyperparathyroidism. PMID: 30665924 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Etiology and Outcomes of Thrombotic Microangiopathies.
CONCLUSIONS: Secondary thrombotic microangiopathies represent the majority of thrombotic microangiopathies. Multiple thrombotic microangiopathies causes are present in one half of secondary thrombotic microangiopathies. The risks of dialysis, neurologic and cardiac complications, and death vary by the cause of thrombotic microangiopathies. Cardiovascular Safety and All-Cause Mortality of Methoxy Polyethylene Glycol-Epoetin Beta and Other Erythropoiesis-Stimulating Agents in Anemia of CKD: A Randomized Noninferiority Trial.
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with anemia of CKD, once-monthly methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta was noninferior to conventional, shorter-acting erythropoiesis-stimulating agents with respect to rates of major adverse cardiovascular events or all-cause mortality. Efficacy and Safety of Mineralocorticoid Receptor Antagonists in Kidney Failure Patients Treated with Dialysis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Our meta-analysis suggests that mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists might improve clinical outcomes of patients with kidney failure without significant increase in the risk of hyperkalemia.PMID:34117083 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.15841020
