A Comparative Study of the Etiology of Intracranial Vertebral Artery Dissection and Carotid Artery Dissection
CONCLUSIONS: Intrinsic causes may play a more important role in the development of intracranial vertebral artery dissection than carotid artery dissection.PMID:36715669 | DOI:10.1097/NRL.0000000000000484

Patient characteristics and outcomes of acute myocardial infarction presenting without ischemic pain: Insights from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study
CONCLUSIONS: Future research should focus on differences in treatment delay across ischemic pain presentations rather than sex differences in acute coronary syndrome presentation.PMID:36713888 | PMC:PMC9879363 | DOI:10.1016/j.ahjo.2022.100239

A 28-year-old male with spontaneous coronary artery dissection complicated by apical thrombus and acute ischemic stroke: An interesting case
Radiol Case Rep. 2022 Nov 2;18(1):246-249. doi: 10.1016/j.radcr.2022.10.001. eCollection 2023 Jan.ABSTRACTSpontaneous coronary artery dissection is described as the intramural bleeding that separates the layers of an epicardial coronary artery wall, either with or without an intimal tear. Atherosclerosis, iatrogenic damage, or trauma are not linked to this syndrome. Here we present a 28-year-old male with 1 month history stroke but no any chronic disease as well family history of heart disease who presented with 2 days' duration of typical cardiac chest pain. Based on an emergency electrocardiogram that showed biphasic T-w...

Extensive myocardial infarction complicated with stroke as the first presentation of HIV in A young sudanese male: A case report
CONCLUSION: The presentation of an acute coronary syndrome in a young patient should raise suspicion of uncommon causes and needs a prompt evaluation from digging up in history, detailed examination, and investigations with close follow-up to prevent the complications that may occur. on the other hand, known HIV Patients should be screened periodically with an electrocardiogram.PMID:36268312 | PMC:PMC9577595 | DOI:10.1016/j.amsu.2022.104653

Health-related quality of life and associated factors among hypertensive patients
CONCLUSIONS: Hypertensives had low HRQOL scores in all domains. Factors affecting their HRQOL should be taken into account when treating these patients.PMID:36027221 | DOI:10.1097/01.hjh.0000837808.51473.2f

Sex differences in comorbidities associated with Sj ögren's disease
CONCLUSIONS: The top comorbidities in Sjögren's disease were fibromyalgia, depression, and pain. Women with Sjögren's disease had a higher relative risk of developing fibromyalgia, depression, pain, migraine, hypermobile syndrome, EDS and other rheumatic autoimmune diseases. Men with Sjögren's disease had higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.PMID:35991633 | PMC:PMC9387724 | DOI:10.3389/fmed.2022.958670

Persistent headache after first-ever ischemic stroke: clinical characteristics and factors associated with its development
CONCLUSION: Persistent headache attributed to ischemic stroke is not rare and frequently leads to medication overuse. The problem is often neglected because of other serious consequences of stroke but actually, it has a considerable impact on quality of life. It should be a focus of interest in the follow-up of stroke patients.PMID:35978288 | DOI:10.1186/s10194-022-01479-9

Mental Stress and Cardiovascular Health-Part I
J Clin Med. 2022 Jun 10;11(12):3353. doi: 10.3390/jcm11123353.ABSTRACTEpidemiological studies have shown that a substantial proportion of acute coronary events occur in individuals who lack the traditional high-risk cardiovascular (CV) profile. Mental stress is an emerging risk and prognostic factor for coronary artery disease and stroke, independently of conventional risk factors. It is associated with an increased rate of CV events. Acute mental stress may develop as a result of anger, fear, or job strain, as well as consequence of earthquakes or hurricanes. Chronic stress may develop as a result of long-term or repetiti...
