Conclusion: The study contributes to understanding of demographic characteristics, risk factors and stroke-subtype in acute ischemic stroke. Nonstenotic carotid plaque on CT angiography in patients with cryptogenic stroke
Conclusions: Large but nonstenotic carotid artery plaque is considerably more common ipsilateral than contralateral to cryptogenic stroke, suggesting that nonstenotic plaque is an underrecognized cause of stroke. We measured plaque size using CT angiography, a method that could be easily implemented in clinical practice.

Carotid artery web and ischemic stroke: A case-control study
Conclusions: There is an association between carotid artery web and ischemic stroke in patients who lack an alternative cause of stroke. Carotid web may be an underappreciated risk factor for stroke.

Role of atherosclerosis, clot extent, and penumbra volume in headache during ischemic stroke
Conclusions: Headache in the early phase of ischemic stroke tends to occur less often in patients with atherosclerosis than in patients without atherosclerosis in the large cerebral arteries. This finding lends support to the hypothesis that vessel wall elasticity is a necessary contributing factor in the occurrence of headache during acute ischemic stroke.

Association of multiple infarctions and ICAS with outcomes of minor stroke and TIA

A rare cause of stroke in young: PHACE syndrome (P1.253)
Conclusions:Neurocutaneous syndromes are typically diagnosed in childhood and can be a rare cause of stroke in young. Our patient suffered an ischemic stroke secondary to sequelae of undiagnosed PHACE syndrome. Young-aged stroke in Korea: changing patterns of risk factors and etiologies (P7.120)
CONCLUSIONS: Compared to the previous study, the proportion of male to female ratio decreased. While smoking and drinking rates decreased in male, metabolic risk factors such as diabetes and dyslipidemia increased in both genders, which explain the increasing proportion of large artery atherosclerotic disease in female patients. The proportion of strokes associated with artery dissection increased, which may be due to the use of advanced diagnostic tools. Ultra-acute CT perfusion imaging: A stroke in the scanner
A stroke patient with a mild right hemiparesis (NIH Stroke Scale score 4) underwent dual-slab CT perfusion (CTP). In the midst of acquiring the lower CTP slab, she became aphasic and developed a dense right hemiparesis (NIH Stroke Scale score 17). Reconstruction of the CTP into a dynamic CT angiogram demonstrates fragmentation of an internal carotid artery thrombus at the time of clinical worsening (figure 1; video on the Neurology® Web site at Neurology.org).
