Selective Sinus Replacement for Aortic Root Aneurysm: Durable Approach in Selected Patients
CONCLUSIONS: For patients with sinus of Valsalva or asymmetric root aneurysm, SSR is associated with excellent operative outcomes, and mid-term follow-up suggests the technique is durable. Longer-term follow-up is needed to confirm continued stability of the aortic root.PMID:35872034 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2022.05.071

Very early infective endocarditis after transcatheter aortic valve replacement
ConclusionA significant proportion of IE episodes following TAVR occurs within a few weeks following the procedure and are associated with dismal outcomes. Some baseline and TAVR procedural factors were associated with VE-IE, andStaphylococcus aureus and enterococci were the main causative pathogens. These results may help to select the more appropriate antibiotic prophylaxis in TAVR procedures and guide the initial antibiotic therapy in those cases with a clinical suspicion of IE.Graphical abstractVery early infective endocarditis after trans-catheter aortic valve replacement. Minimal access compared to sternotomy for aortic root and arch surgery
CONCLUSION: The partial upper sternotomy approach is safe and feasible for aortic root and arch surgery with morbidity and mortality rates similar to full sternotomy, with the advantages of less blood loss and transfusions need, faster extubation, and shorter length of hospital stay.PMID:35255771
