From therapeutic nihilism to armamentarium: A meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials assessing safety and efficacy of endovascular therapy for acute large ischemic strokes
CONCLUSION: This study confirms the benefit of EVT on functional outcomes of patients presenting with large ischemic infarcts without significant differences in the rates of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage, hemicraniectomy, or 90-day mortality.PMID:37082795 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231170681

Thrombectomy for a basilar artery occlusion in a 2-year-old child: A focus on anatomical and technical aspects
We describe the case of a 2-year-old child who benefited from late-window EVT for a basilar occlusion. The procedure was safely performed using a 6-Fr femoral introducer, a 6-Fr guide catheter, and a 5-Fr aspiration catheter. We discuss also normal cerebral and femoral vessel development, providing descriptive tables of compatibility between femoral and cerebral arterial diameters by age groups and currently available endovascular devices.PMID:37063049 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231169602

Outcome prediction prior to thrombectomy of the posterior circulation with machine learning
CONCLUSION: Short-term favorable and poor outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke of the posterior circulation can be predicted prior to thrombectomy with moderate sensitivity and high specificity with machine learning models.PMID:37038341 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231168164

Mechanical thrombectomy with Q catheter in stroke caused by primary and secondary distal and medium vessel occlusions
CONCLUSION: The MIVI Q catheter is both safe and effective. Our real-world experience supports the superior flow rates demonstrated in vitro and translates into high rates of successful reperfusion in AIS caused by DMVO in clinical practice.PMID:37016748 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231167915

NIMBUS geometric clot extractor for challenging clots: Real-world clinical experience and clot composition
CONCLUSIONS: In this series, NIMBUS was effective in removing tough clots rich in fibrin and platelets in challenging real-world situations.PMID:37011914 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231167912

Mechanical thrombectomy versus medical management for acute basilar artery occlusions: A meta-analysis of randomized trials
CONCLUSIONS: Despite the higher risk of sICH, MT was associated with superior functional outcomes and reduced mortality compared to MM in BAO patients. A revision of current guidelines for treatment of acute ischemic stroke from basilar artery occlusion should be considered.PMID:37005965 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231157924
