Artificial intelligence accurately predicts stroke risk
[Image from unsplash.com]Machine-learning algorithms, a form of artificial intelligence, accurately predicted people’s risk of heart disease and stroke, according to new research from the University of Nottingham. Researchers and computer scientists compared the risk guidelines for heart disease and stroke from the American College of Cardiology with 4 machine-learning algorithms to analyze the risk of a patient having each. The results showed that the artificially intelligent algorithms were significantly more accurate at predicting cardiovascular disease than the regular medical models. FDA clears AliveCor ’ s KardiaBand ECG for Apple Watch
AliveCor said today that the FDA cleared its KardioBand electrocardiogram device for the Apple Watch, designed to monitor for early signs of atrial fibrillation. First introduced in March 2016, KardiaBand is the first medical device accessory to be cleared by the federal safety watchdog for the Apple Watch, Mountain View, Calif.-based AliveCor said.
