Abstract 101: A Learning Collaborative Model to Improve Door to Needle Time for Stroke Thrombolysis in Chicago Session Title: Abstract Poster Session I and Reception
Conclusions: Using a learning collaborative model to implement strategies to reduce DTN times among 15 PSCs in Chicago, we observed major improvements within a few months. Regional collaboration and best practices sharing should be a model for rapid and sustainable system-wide quality improvement.

Regional Learning Collaboratives Produce Rapid and Sustainable Improvements in Stroke Thrombolysis Times Original Articles
Conclusions— Using a learning collaborative model at Chicago’s 15 primary stroke centers, we observed major reductions in DTN times within 1 quarter of implementation. Regional collaboration and best practices sharing should be a model for rapid and sustainable system-wide quality improvement.

Abstract 267: Improving Inpatient Stroke Care by Implementing Stroke Units Across Health Systems Using an Improvement Collaborative Approach Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusions: This inter-provincial Quality Improvement Collaborative was successful in implementing and improving stroke units, and in improving best practice care of inpatient stroke patients. Critical success factors include the engagement of faculty from high-performing centers even if they exist outside the jurisdiction where improvement is sought, and the use of the 7-step framework for implementing stroke units.

Conclusion: Through providing education to EMS providers and building relationships between EMS and hospitals, there has been a significant increase in pre-notification by EMS therefore improving timeliness of CT scans in acute stroke patients.

Abstract 172: Patients' Experiences from Symptom Onset to Initial Treatment for Atrial Fibrillation Session Title: Poster Session I
Conclusions: Providers’ played a critical role in reducing patients' emotional distress and helping them to develop an accurate understanding of AF symptoms and treatment. This study provides new insight into participant experiences from symptom onset through initial treatment of AF which may inform development of patient centered interventions to promote early effective AF self-management.
