Association between Heart Failure and Clinical Prognosis in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Retrospective Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONS: Individuals with heart failure who suffer from an acute ischemic stroke show worse clinical outcomes in terms of mortality, event severity, and duration of hospital stay.PMID:33835739 | PMC:PMC8053558 | DOI:10.3988/jcn.2021.17.2.200

Low-molecular-weight heparin or dual antiplatelet therapy is more effective than aspirin alone in preventing early neurological deterioration and improving the 6-month outcome in ischemic stroke patients.
CONCLUSIONS: LMWH or DAT may be more effective than aspirin alone for reducing the incidence of END and ERIS within 14 days, and is associated with improved outcomes in elderly patients and those with stenosis in the posterior circulation or basilar artery at 6 months poststroke. A 6-Point TACS Score Predicts In-Hospital Mortality Following Total Anterior Circulation Stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: We have identified the key determinants of in-hospital mortality following TACS and derived a 6-point TACS Score that can be used to predict the prognosis of particular patients. PMID: 27819414 [PubMed - in process]

Cerebral Arterial Stiffness as Measured Based on the Pulse Wave Velocity is Associated With Intracranial Artery Calcification in Patients With Acute Stroke
CONCLUSIONS: We found that in patients with acute ischemic stroke, ccPWV was positively related to the degree of IAC. Future longitudinal cohort studies may help to identify the potential role of IAC in the progression of cerebral arterial stiffness.PMID:36929059 | DOI:10.3988/jcn.2022.0209
