E-055 Endovascular Therapy for Patients with Acute Large MCA Territory Ischemia: Its Effect on the Risk of Subsequent Development of Deep Venous Thrombosis
ConclusionsIn patients with acute large MCA territory ischemia, endovascular recanalization therapy appeared to decrease the risk of developing subsequent DVT or PE. However, a larger sample size is needed to demonstrate statistical significance. Interestingly, majority of DVT were developed on the side of the extremity contralateral to the affected cerebral hemisphere.DisclosuresZ. Li: None. M. Cox: None.

E-094 The Use of Aspiration Catheter Systems for Embolic Protection during Intracranial Vertebral Artery Angioplasty and Stenting, with Concurrent Use of Ultrasound to Document Flow Reversal
ConclusionsThe proposed technique of proximal embolic protection may help overcome the challenge of embolus propagation inherent to the treatment modality that was encountered during the treatment of intracranial VA/BA stenosis.Abstract E-094 Figure 1DisclosuresS. P-002 Incidence and Prognosis of Plaque Protrusion during Carotid Artery Stenting
ConclusionPP during CAS is strongly associated with ischemic complications. PP prevention is necessary to avoid ischemic complications during CAS.DisclosuresK. Takayama: 2; C; Medtronic. K. Myouchin: None. T. Wada: None. M. Kotsugi: None. S. Kurokawa: None. K. Kichikawa: None.

O-001 groin complications in endovascular mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke: a 10-year single center experience
ConclusionsIn our series, the low groin complication rate (0.4%-0.8%) in thrombectomy suggests that concerns for vascular complications should not preclude the use of BGCs in the endovascular treatment of ischemic stroke.DisclosuresV. E-011 the key role of the blood-brain barrier in the endovascular treatment of brain tumors and how to by-pass it: new methods
ConclusionIA chemotherapy has been reported to be a promising new therapy; clinical studies are necessary to correlate this technique to the new ways of altering the BBB. Furthermore, these new methods could also be used in future scenarios before infusion of stem cells after stroke or brain trauma.DisclosuresS. Peschillo: 2; C; Penumbra. F. Diana: None.

Unprotected carotid artery stenting in symptomatic elderly patients: a single-center experience
Conclusions Endovascular treatment of carotid stenosis without protection devices in symptomatic patients aged >75 years is an alternative to endovascular treatment with protection devices. Complications and mortality rates are similar to studies that used protection devices in lower risk patients.

E-006 Familial Incidence of the Congenital Torcular Dural Arteriovenous Shunt
Purpose There are several hereditary disorders that are well known to be associated with arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) involving the central nervous system including Sturge-Weber, Klippel-Trenaunay-Weber, and Parkes-Weber syndromes as well as hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia and hereditary neurocutaneous angiomatosis. Furthermore, familial incidence of AVMs in the absence of congenital hereditary disorders also has been reported. Herein, we describe the occurrence of the giant torcular herophili (TH) dural arteriovenous fistula (AVF) in two pediatric cousins treated with endovascular embolization. Case report C...

P-020 Emergent Carotid Artery Stenting with or without Intracranial Tandem Occlusion Lesions Following Carotid Endarterectomy
Conclusion Emergent endovascular evaluation in the setting of acute post CEA thrombosis is a safe and timely treatment option, with the benefit of detecting and treating embolic intracranial lesions. More investigation is necessary to define the role of immediate angiography and intervention in this rare surgical complication.
